Tips on Yoga for pregnancy

When a woman conceives, she goes through a series of emotional and biological changes. Where at one side she enjoys the feeling of motherhood, on the other side she goes through a whirl of emotions regarding the delivery and the health of her baby. Normally, in an Indian house or the world over, the elderly women in the family is always there to guide an expecting mother, about how she should take care of herself, the food she should eat, or the lifestyle she should follow. However, the present environmental conditions demand one very important thing, other than a healthy diet and lifestyle, that is, yoga for pregnancy. However, the yester generation might not support it to the fullest, but it is required for the healthy growth of the fetus inside the womb of the mother. As it is, a known fact that the more the mother keeps herself fit the better it is for the baby.

The expecting mothers must take up yoga for pregnancy seriously. The entire yoga session should begin with “OM” chants and meditation. This will help the mother to relax her mind and body and will prepare her body for further exercises. The expecting mother must be extra cautious while performing her yoga poses, because a slight injury can cause harm to both her and her baby. The different benefits of yoga for expecting mother are as follows:

1.) Yoga during pregnancy improves the breathing techniques, which helps prepare the body for delivery.

2.) The meditation helps the expecting mother to deal with her frequent mood swings during the initial months of her pregnancy.

3.) The expecting mother suffers from morning sickness, which can be reduced through yoga exercises and Pranayama.

4.) As the body starts gaining weight during pregnancy and the abdomen along with the breast swells up, regular practice of yoga poses will help to deal with the problem.

5.) Regular practice of yoga exercises helps to smoothen the pelvic floor, uterus and abdomen, which in turn helps during the childbirth.

6.) Due to swelling of the abdomen, the lower back is often troubled during pregnancy. This problem can be handled with regular practice of yoga.

7.) It even improves the digestive system keeping the mother and the baby in a healthy state.

8.) It also improves the metabolism rate of the body, according to which the mother always has an urge to eat fancy food items, and the child gets more nutrition from the body of the mother.

9.) Proper practice of yoga during pregnancy helps to get in shape fast after the childbirth. It also helps to shed away the baby fat and regain the previous body shape.

These are some of the benefits of yoga for pregnancy. The yoga poses that the expecting mother should perform are mainly Half butterfly pose, Full butterfly pose, Sleeping Abdominal Stretch pose, Churning the Mill pose, Cat stretch pose, Palm tree pose, Shoulder pose, and Waist rotating pose. These are some of the yoga poses, which an expecting mother must perform, in order to give birth to a healthy child.
