Meditation Guide - How To Prepare For Meditation

Posted by Palila Jones at 1:01 AM 0 comments
Meditation may appear very simple to some one who is yet to begin with the art but, can be quite challenging when attempted for real. The peace and serenity that we usually see surrounding someone who is in the process of deep meditation, does not come in a day’s time. It takes years and years of dedication and practice to reach a certain level wherefrom the real benefits of meditation or, dhyan can be experienced. Meditation for beginners particularly, can be very difficult. Sitting down quietly is an otherwise difficult task, and this is precisely what meditation requires as its very first requisite.

A number of external factors ensure how effective the practice of meditation and its effects will be in the coming days for a learner. While it is true that meditation has got to do everything with the ‘inside’ of a human being, the external factors should not be neglected as it matters to every bit, as far as meditation for beginners is concerned. We may have come across numerous examples of Yogis who could continue with meditation irrespective of weather conditions (heat, cold, thunderstorms snow etc), but, all this could have been possible hundreds of years ago when people used to actually dedicate themselves to the art and reach levels of expertise that people of the present times can only dream of. Therefore, it is only for the benefit of the present day beginners to ensure the prerequisites before attempting practice of meditation of any sort.

Area Of Practice:

Meditation should be practiced in an area that is quiet and has a sense of tranquility surrounding it. Whether you have chosen yoga for meditation, or, any other form, the area of practice can have a massive effect on how you develop in the art. Cleanliness of the area of practice is a must and should not be compromised with. you can never accomplish true meditation if you have been practicing in a dirty, odorous, pest ridden, clammy, noisy and overall, polluted surrounding. Avoiding severe weather conditions like rain, excessive heat, chill, storms etc is wise. You may be able to sit quietly tolerating these extremes, but ‘meditation’ per se, will not happen. Whether indoors or, outdoors, ascertaining that the area for practice is right for meditation will go a long way into getting you the true benefit of the practice.

Cessation Of Thoughts:

This is easier said than done. Thoughts are the intangible phenomena that keeps occurring within the human mind voluntarily and involuntarily. Thoughts of either of the sort must be ignored while meditating. Conscious or, constructive thinking should be consciously avoided. On the other hand, the involuntary or, unconscious thinking (that are thoughts that just keep floating into the mind without any conscious effort from the person) should be overlooked. Dwelling on thoughts while sitting in meditative posture is as good as not meditating at all. True meditation happens when all conscious and unconscious thoughts depart from a human mind. One must allow that to happen. This may take years to master, but with proper practice, it is sure to happen at least to a certain extent.

Posted by Palila Jones at 1:41 AM 0 comments
As soon as you enter in the party, you attract a lot of attention for your sexy figure which you have achieved for practicing yoga exercises regularly. Yes, it’s only your body which people appreciate and not your face as you have a lot of pimples and skin problems which lead to the darkening of the face. If you are not happy with your face, you must start practicing yoga exercises which will benefit you. There are varieties of yoga postures which you can practice to get a clean and ever glowing face. If you don’t have any idea on yoga exercises, you must check out the online yoga programs where you would get a lot of yoga instructors who are teaching the postures online.

With the trend of people joining yoga schools so that they can have a fit body, it is evident that people are taking the practice of yoga seriously. However, people are not health conscious but figure conscious where they try their level best to get the zero figures as it’s a hype created by the celebrities. It’s only because of their attention to their figure that they have stopped caring about their face. When you practice yoga exercises, it’s not only your mind but the entire body gets benefitted from the exercises. Do you think that Iyengar yoga and Bikram yoga serves the same purpose? No, as they work on the different parts of the body so that you can get rid of the problem. For instance, people who have stress related issues practice meditation as it helps them to give a peace of mind.

When it comes to face related problems, sagging and wrinkles are some of the common issues which are being experienced by women. It may be due to the polluted air or the chemical face products such as sun screen lotion which is used by a lot of women. Though the chemical products promises a lot of things such as removing the dark circles, it hardly works on the face rather it reacts with the skin and creates more problems. So, start practicing yoga if you wish to have an ever glowing skin.

How To Plan Meditation For Beginners

Posted by Palila Jones at 5:20 AM 0 comments
What is meditation? Sitting cross legged, with your back straight, eyes closed and often chanting the “OM” mantra! Well, to answer your question, meditation is this and much more. A tradition started by the sages, yogis and wise men, almost 5000 years back, today has turned into a cool ritual among the present generation. Earlier people use to indulge in yoga for meditation as a means of worship and also as a daily ritual of sainthood. But today it has reduced to a yoga posture to reduce stress and increase concentration. Earlier people use to go up to the hills or other serene place to practice meditation, but today people go as far as their terrace to practice mediation.

Mediation for beginners is a little tough job. It is not that it requires a lot of hardship in its performance and thus is difficult for beginners, but since it requires a lot of concentration and focus, the beginners at times find it difficult. The present generations’ interest in meditation is quite a recent phenomenon. The growing stress at work, irregular lifestyle, getting forgetful and finding it difficult to concentrate has triggered the need for meditation. If you are a beginner and are learning to meditate then the first advice will be to locate a place which is a little peaceful, so that you are able to concentrate. The hustle and bustle of city life has made such a place extinct, but your balcony or terrace is an ideal location for the activity. Fetch yourself a nice yoga mat and sit facing the rising sun. Early in the morning is the most suitable time to practice yoga, as you are both freash and relaxed at this time of the day. Next you need to sit with your legs crossed with your hands in the front in a perfect mudra, eyes closed, and try to focus.

You can play a nice instrumental piece on your music player to increase your concentration along with the “OM” chants. Mediation for beginners is not a difficult job, all you need to do is be a little patient.

Meditation is like magic

Posted by Palila Jones at 1:13 AM 0 comments
Meditation is a part of yoga which helps a person to rejuvenate. It has the power to heal the body and soul. This helps in improving concentration and relaxing the body.

You all must have heard about mediation at some point of your life. Even I had heard a lot about this ancient form of rejuvenation but like most of you, hadn’t practice it myself. This is very common thing people are often aware of certain things but don’t try them until they are in most need of it. The same thing was repeated with me too. I also became a practitioner of yoga for meditation out of need but a fan of the process because of the gratitude.

I am a journalist working for a national daily for the last two years. I loved my job and profession. But over time it was becoming very stressful. I always knew that I was in a very demanding career but over time it was becoming more and more tough. The crazy working hours, the deadlines and pressures of the job was talking over. I started losing interest in work. I loved writing and dreamt of being a journalist but now I was losing it all. Moreover staying from home was also contributing to the uneasiness. The whole situation was very frustrating. I even thought of giving up the job.

A few months ago I discussed my situation with one of my colleagues. She advised me to take on yoga for meditation. She told me that even a year ago she was facing the same situation .At that time meditation had helped her, a lot to rejuvenate. The yoga for meditation techniques is great to fight the stress and relax the body and mind. She told me that in a demanding profession like ours. Through this process the one can get back the lost mental peace .Also it helps in increasing the concentration and focus for its practitioner. She told me that practicing meditation even for an your will change the whole scenario.

I was very inspired by her talk and decided to practice yoga for meditation by myself. For information I surfed through the net. It offered a lot of information on this ancient way of rejuvenation. I followed the information given and practiced meditation at least for an hour everyday. Trust me it works like magic.

Yoga and meditation are synonymous to each other. This is tough to think of anyone without the other. Yoga for meditation is the ideal way for stress management. Yoga takes its birth in India years back and starts the journey for balancing between human mind and soul. In the ancient days, practicing yoga means to concentrate more and more for meditation. In those days, people understand meditation only by the term “yoga”. Relaxing human body through practicing yoga is the bottom line. Connection between yoga and meditation is as old as the existence of yoga itself.

Monks used to practice yoga for meditation as the very early age. The use of such postures is not so common. It was common thought that such poses demand more concentration and devotion that common people can’t provide. Only the saints can perform them as they know the lives of hardship. But this thought has completely been changed through the passing time. Such postures have crossed its area of limitation. Not only for such postures only but the definition of yoga also has changed a lot. Its meaning been molded according to the need of mass. In this era, yoga is a part of physical exercise and some perform this to get relief from their stressful life.

It has a correlation with spirituality and yoga started to spell on the bodies of its practitioners. Some poses of yoga for meditation are now acknowledged all over the world for their curative significance. Millions of people live a very stressful and pathetic life compromising with their basic instincts in recent times. This is the reason why the ratio of depression and addiction is growing very high day after day. Without finding any other way out, people prefer to fall in the grip of addiction knowing its harmful consequences. Specifically, the youth has more stress in their lives. The pressure of achieving good result, getting a good job and staying satisfied with a stable relationship are a few to name among so many complication of modern life.

Modern mass is stuffed in the jungle of concrete. They come to the office in the morning and go back at night may be by their own cars or some other communications. They do not have any such personal life but maintaining a conjugal life has also become just a physical necessary. Such hectic schedule makes them stressful leading to some physical ailments also. Yoga for meditation can be a relief for them. A few minutes in the morning or at any convenient time they can perform to gather energy for the whole day.

Many people may have raised a question that they do not have time to see their faces in mirror regularly and this is not so weird to state that. Awaking in the morning makes them run. How they can adjust time to perform yoga for meditation. Who said to make some time in the morning. Rather if anyone prefers to give some time before going to the bed, it is assured that he or she will get sound sleep for the night.

Have You Considered Gaining Weight through Yoga

Posted by Palila Jones at 12:41 AM 0 comments
Behold readers . . . ! For all this while we have been thinking, researching and finding solutions for a dreaded condition called weight gain. Gaining weight is perhaps the easiest thing to do in the present times. Look every where and people are trying to cover up paunches, sale of corsets have been increasing, gyms and health clubs are overcrowded and dieticians are up and ready with a no-carb diet plan for one and all. So much have we been involved with this side of the coin that any attempt of flipping the same coin and acknowledging the other side of the story has become practically impossible even to believe. The other side of the coin that is being spoken about refers to a condition that many believe to exist only in dreams . . . lets call it putting in additional effort to Gaining Weight intentionally!

No . . . the discussion is not about the Sumo wrestlers; we are plainly talking about those people who are too thin to show themselves in public, some of whom are as good as two dimensional and can pass unnoticed through a keyhole. If you have been thinking that being overweight is bad, think about those who are pasted on the wall when mistaken for posters. Their appeal for help is justified and must be addressed with urgency. On the more practical side, being too thin is also too dangerous as health consequences can be devastating. Being abnormally thin is more often than not, a sign of malnutrition. Ramp models can be held as examples. Other causes like different diseases and disorders can also cause this abnormality. The body of the affected reach a state when nothing that they eat contribute to adding weight to their structure. No amount of carbohydrate and fat seem to work with them. Even the weight gain supplements in the market that promise big muscles fade when produced before these people.

Gaining weight can be as difficult as loosing weight and requires patience and perseverance. The body has to be prepared to bring itself to proportion by accepting the carbohydrates and using them in the body accordingly. Yoga is one very good practice with which one can prepare one’s body to put on the additional pounds. Yoga for weight gain is a safer way to handle the situation as medication and chemical supplements can cause long term and hazardous side effects. As mentioned, yoga does not directly contribute to weight gain. The main aim of yoga is to correct any kind of irregularity in the body, over weight and under weight being a part of it. With regular practice of yoga, the physical irregularities seem to disappear. Therefore, if a person begins as underweight, he / she tends to gain normal body and weight proportions within due course of time. Postures like shirshasana, matsyasana, chakrasana, ardha chakrasana, shavavasana help in building better digestive system that aids in proper assimilation of food resulting in normalizing of weight.

Posted by Palila Jones at 11:35 PM 0 comments
Yoga is very effective in almost all sphere does not mean that one should select any posture and start performing. This is not any religion that everyone from the same sphere can access. Yes this is true that yoga postures can give positive effect for all. It depends on the selection of yoga programs. One who needs to get relief from stress should perform a distinct posture than those who want to have a relief from breathing issues. If both perform the same pose it can be expected that the health progress will be nil or may be very slow. Not every posture is meant for everyone.

Yoga is an age-old discipline. It is a form of art that helps to attain a balance between mind, body and the soul. This makes a person aware about the philosophy to live a healthy life. People go through several yoga programs to get the best of such postures. There is no such definition applicable for yoga. No one can confine it within any such boundary. It provides much than what a human being can think of. Some people define it as holistic health science and this is not wrong. It relates everything with divine wellness. Even numerous professionals prefer yoga due to its side-effect less impact on human health.

In spite of the fact that two bodies are not the same. One is typically man-made and the other is an age-old form of workout. All yoga programs are made for some specific requirements of specific human body, mind and soul. This is the reason why every human needs different postures. One may join a yoga class or can perform with a group but there must be some specific postures for each and other so that they can get the positive impact. Customized programs are required are important to get positive impact.

Even there are some specifically designed yoga programs available for teens, women, athletes, kids and elders. All individuals are different and they require different solutions for their respective demands. That is the reason why people need customized programs. This helps them not only for getting health benefits but such programs help to gather psychological unity also.

Even a year ago I was an overweight kid who was pressurized by her own weight. I was to be very frankly completely broken and my confidence had reached the bottom mark. At that time I was introduced to yoga. To be frank I had no hope and tried it as part of the many things that I was trig to lose weight.

But the next one year worked wonders for me. To my surprise a process that started with much physical effort and pain resulted in fling colors. In years for the first time I saw myself losing weight. My joy reached the sky after trying thousand things, it was age old phenomena that solved my problems and I knew my dark days were over and I was to thank Yoga Exercises for this.

Yoga can help in losing weight as it is not a high intensity exercise which help in losing weight and make people sweat. It basically helps to tone the body which helps in stretching and improves the breathing system. Though I did not lose the weight that quickly but over time the results were visible. Yoga helped to achieve which I never thought will be possible it helped be to get a proper body shape which I could not dream about even a year ago.

Yoga and its effect on hypertension

Posted by Palila Jones at 4:44 AM 0 comments
I am a woman in my mid 50s, living in Delhi since my birth and by far I have had a normal life with the usual worries and anxieties. Though life has been a mixed bag I have always been very sensitive about everything in life. You can call be “the emotional sort”, who is affected by possibly everything in life. This has lead to a number of health problems that i have had face over the years. The most important of these problems is “hypertension”. This problem again is the main source for my other heath disorders. Over the years my panic stricken habit has only given impetus to the growth of this health problem.

About a year ago, when my son went for higher studies I was in a state of great discomfort both physically and mentally. The whole situation was unbearable for me. Though everyone tried to convince me, it became increasingly difficult to pacify my emotion. At last that night I felt a terrible pain in my heart. Doctors said I have had a heart attack. From then on I have been consulting doctors seeking advice. They have advised me to stay calm but I cannot. I felt that I had no control over my emotions. The situation had been a matter of concern for my whole family.

It was in such a time that one of my relatives told us that yoga is used for the treatment of hypertension. She told that there are yoga poses and also yoga for meditation that is often used to cure hypertension. This made me include yoga into my life. When I asked my trainer as to how yoga can treat hypertension, he said that hypertension is caused by the inappropriate functioning of the blood arteries and heart. These are basically controlled by the brain impulse and practicing yoga poses can result in calming of the brain.

Yoga for meditation is a great way of controlling stress and other mental disorder. It made me relaxes and more composed. For the first time in my whole life, I felt that I could control my emotions. I have me inner peace. It’s been a year I have been practicing yoga poses and trust me it helps.

Yoga for Students Is a Blessing

Posted by Palila Jones at 6:12 AM 0 comments
I would love to get back my school days but only if I do not have to study! All the fun, friends, teachers, the entire environment was such a lovely time. Given a chance we all would love to get back all those days. No matter how bad we felt about finishing those lessons from history to trigonometry, biology to civics, at that time it seemed so much! Only studying was not enough, mom had said, it is important to do some else apart from studies may be taking lessons in music or gymnastics and swimming or art even. At the end of the day we were so drained and exhausted.

Now kids have an option to do away with all that tiredness and fatigue at the end of the day. Yoga for students is like a blessing. If all this while you were thinking that yoga was only meant for you to get a slim waist and stunning body, you are in for a surprise. Now many schools have introduced these yoga sessions in school itself to help students make the most out of it. A forty five minute session in school is enough for your kid. Meditation and easy yoga poses and yoga postures are taught to the students. Different fun ways are used to keep them interested and they don’t feel it is something monotonous and mandatory.

Mediation, easy back exercises, stretching etc are mainly practiced. The instructors make sure that they make the yoga sessions interesting and fun for all to enjoy. The exercises help the students to have a more attentive mind. It also helps them to concentrate better in studies and other extra curricular activities. Many poses of yoga for breathing issues are also incorporated in the sessions as a lot of kids are found to suffer from asthma and other breathing troubles. All day the students are busy with varied subjects of their syllabus; a yoga class is like a breather to them just like gym class to which they look forward to all day when they can play some sports to their heart’s content.

If you also want the best for your kid, enroll him in a school that has yoga for students session in the curriculum. They would stay happy and energetic and also score better in academics.

Evolution of Yoga through Ages

Posted by Palila Jones at 5:05 AM 0 comments
Yoga is not one of those new fashions that man has adopted very recently. It is quite different from the conventional fitness practices. Besides, yoga postures involve a lot of self-control and determination to continue in the daily run. It necessarily does not mean that yoga is a difficult to carry on with concept, what is important is the good will for an extended result. Not only in case of yoga, but when you practice some other type of fitness program, that will also ask for the same amount of dedication and hard work.

If we theoretically explore the birth of yoga, we can find the origins developed somewhere by the Indus civilization in the northwestern part of India. You can find the mention of the yoga even at the times of Rig Veda, the most ancient and scared text of the world. Previously, yoga has a unlike definition in life encircling mental development and purity. The monks were integrally associated with yoga with a restricted life devoid of luxury. To them, yoga was a tool for self-motivation and spiritual development. After Vedas, yoga continued as a major form of practice even at times of Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita, the other too worthwhile texts depicting Indian culture. However, as the days passed on it continued being modified and remodeled by the generations. Now yoga has wider connotation involving the notions of action (karma yoga) and wisdom (jnana yoga).

The first ever purest and the modern version of yoga came with Patanjali’s “YOGSUTRA”. Although quite an ancient idea which goes back to the second century, it was the first scientific version of yoga. The yoga we are acquainted to these days is only derivation of the same practices directly. If you visit one of the yoga camps popular all around these days, you will find the mentors maintaining his name as the king of yoga.

The early nineteenth century witnessed a tremendous transformation of yoga when it expanded to the western frontiers quickly. Yoga revived back its definition with T.Krishnamacharya in 1920. He was the introducer to the popular Hatha Yoga postures, which became immensely popular in the Indian scenario. Yoga for meditation achieved a different developmental parameter by this time. It will be a disregard if not mentioning the names of T.K.V.Desikachar, Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S Iyengar, the famous trio students of Krishnamacharya. These three people owe high credit for spreading the legacy of yoga all around the world after their master.

Talking about the present day yoga, it is a much modified and reshaped form than what it has been earlier. Now even advanced, moderate and yoga for beginners online programs are obtaining huge recognition. Today yoga encompasses a larger fitness concept that takes body and mind together. A person can get rid of various ailments if he practices yoga on regular basis. It will not a hyperbole if say that yoga keeps away disease from us and make us brawny in addition to making our immunity strong. In a nutshell, it can be said that yoga has attained a universal approach these days and followers of this approach are overlapping even billions day by day.
